Eskom undertakes projects aimed at reducing electricity consumption. There has been a free exchange of Compact Florescent Lights (CFL’s) replacing the old traditional Incandescent light bulbs which consume more Electricity.
K-Tech was contracted to crush over 5 million of the old light bulbs and render them unusable (so they don’t find their way back into households), safely dispose of the crushed glass and recycle the metal caps. This work was undertaken in two of the Eskom Regions namely Eastern Region (covering KwaZulu Natal and Mpumalanga Provinces), and North West Region (covering Ekurhuleni, Free State, and parts of Northern Cape).
K-Tech was contracted to safetly dispose of over 2.5 million failed CFL's that had failedin previous roll-out's. K-Tech has been appointed as their principal crushing & disposal company, and we have completed the safe disposal of CFL lamps and tubes in the Hendler & Hart manufacturing plant and offices in Boksburg.
K-Tech was contracted by eMalahleni local municipality to perform a household lighting audit in all the residential suburbs of eMalahleni municipality. K-Tech designed the audit tools, trained the audit teams, collated the data and compiled a concise status quo report which was presented to eMalahleni local municipality. This report was used by Eskom to initiate a CFL rollout to eMalahleni of 1 million lamps.
